Temple Terrace is an incorporated city in its own right, sitting within the travel range of the N Arlington Ave base. That matters for one practical reason: it issues its own permits rather than routing them through Hillsborough County, so a replacement here is handled with the city's building department, not the county's.
The housing is a mix of mid-century homes and later subdivisions, with garages, utility rooms and a share of attic installations. The river and the older tree canopy also mean roofs and ceilings take a beating in storm season, which is worth knowing when a leak is first spotted.
As elsewhere, the visit starts with the nameplate, the location and a test sequence, and ends with a unit that has been leak-checked at every joint that was opened.
Because Temple Terrace runs its own building department, the paperwork differs from a Tampa address even though the drive is short. Inspection scheduling follows the city's calendar, and a replacement is not finished until that inspection has been passed.
